Diabetes? Teenager? Weight loss?
I’m fourteen (fifteen in december) I found out I might have diabetes, which could be the cause to a lot of my problems. I can’t loss weight, I can only gain it, I always have yeast infections, and some other stuff. I’ve tried dieting and excersising, and while everyone else in my family is lossing weight (we all are excersising and watching our diets).
In 2006-07 I gained a total of 35+ lbs, I only grew two inches, and that’s why no one thought anything of it.
My questions is: Once I get this under control, if I have it, will my weight start going down? Will it go down a certain amount by itself (without the dieting or excersise)?
By the way she says I show signs of Insulin Resistance, is that for both diabetes? Or 1 or 2?
I’m doing the shots test this week, i think on thurs, do they really hurt? Or does it just cause you to be sore??
PS Shots don’t normally hurt, sometimes they cause me soreness but that’s all. Finger pricks hurt though.

shots test? Do you mean you are getting your blood drawn (a1c) and/or taking the glocose tolerance test? Neither are injections.
Insulin resistance is generally associated with type 2. Many people later diagnosed with type 2 had problems with weight gain for many years prior to their diagnosis. Yeast infections care caused by high sugar levels (the bacteria feed off the sugar, but also because ketosis changes the pH of the body allowing the imballance of yeast to other natural vaginal flora to occur).

Women with diabetes are more prone to yeast infections because sugar feeds off of the bacteria. If you are having the symptoms of diabetes, like using the bathroom frequently and being extremely thirsty, then there may be a reason for your weight gain. When your body gets rid of the sugar when you use the bathroom, your body tells you that you need more sugar to replace it so you eat more. If you can get your blood sugars under control, you can probably lose weight easier. Good luck, I know exactly how you feel!
